Lotion on the hair and scalp for 10 minutes, and then rinse off with water.

Indications

Ivrea Shampoo is indicated for the treatment of head lice

Adverse Effects

Commonly reported side effects of ivermectin include: fever, pruritus, and skin rash.

Mechanism of Action

Ivrea (Ivermectin) is a member of the avermectin class of broad-spectrum antiparasitic agents which have a unique mode of action. Compounds of the class bind selectively and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels which occur in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells. This leads to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions with hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cell, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite. Compounds of this class may also interact with other ligand-gated chloride channels, such as those gated by the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)

Pharmacokinetics

Since the absorption of Ivermectin through skin is negligible, half life of Ivermectin in Ivera Shampoo is not applicable

Drug Use in Pregnancy

Pregnancy and Lactation: Pregnancy Category C There are no adequate and well-controlled studies with Ivrea Shampoo in pregnant women. Ivrea Shampoo should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Nursing Mothers Following oral administration, ivermectin is excreted in human milk in low concentrations. This has not been evaluated following topical administration. Caution should be exercised when Ivrea Shampoo is administered to a nursing woman.

Drug Use in Renal Impairment

Renal impairment No dosage adjustment is necessary.

Drug Use in Hepatic Impairment

Hepatic impairment Caution should be exercised in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Drug Use in Geriatric Population

Elderly patients No dosage adjustment is necessary in the geriatric population.
