Abrozac

Abrozac is indicated for the treatment of acute or chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive or asthma-like bronchitis and recurrence of chronic bronchitis

Mechanism of Action

Acebrophylline is administered orally, is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, providing blood levels of 7-teofillinacetico and Ambroxol. This feature justifies the dual-action bronchodilator and the favorable activity on bronchial secretions. The bronchodilator activity is expressed through the increase in content of cyclic AMP in the tracheo bronchial muscle. In addition to modifying the rheological properties of mucus, the Acebrophylline increases the mucociliary clearance both “in vitro” and “in vivo”. Synthesis and Release of Pulmonary Surfactant: -Helps in reducing the viscosity of bronchial secretions -Maintains the structure of alveoli and prevents its collapse Mucoregulatory, Mucosecretory & Mucokinetic Activity: -Restore the normal viscosity of abnormal bronchial secretion -Reduction in mucus adhesivity to the bronchial walls when there is enough surfactant -Helps in mucocilliary clearance Anti-inflammatory Action: -Inhibits phosphatidylcholine and phospholipase A, and inflammatory mediators such as TNF-alpha and leukotrienes -Reduces bronchial inflammation and obstruction Bronchodilator : -Facilitates bronchial muscles relaxation -Reduces bronchial obstruction

Drug Use in Pregnancy

Acebrophylline: Pregnancy and Lactation: Although no adverse effects have been detected dell’Acebrophylline on fetal development, its use should be avoided in early pregnancy and in further time should be limited only to cases in which the physician considers that the failure to control asthma constitutes a real risk to the mother. Do not use during lactation. N- Acetyl Cystein: Pregnancy & Lactation : Contraindicated
