Ajanta Pharma Expands Presence in Metabolic Care with Launch of DTF and Ozanta

Mumbai, India: Ajanta Pharma has announced the launch of DTF (Diabetes Task Force), a dedicated specialty division focused on Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolic Care. The launch marks a strategic expansion of the company’s presence in the rapidly evolving diabetology and metabolic therapy segment.

The newly established DTF division has been created to strengthen Ajanta Pharma’s footprint in diabetology specialty care while addressing the growing burden of chronic metabolic diseases in India through advanced, patient-centric therapeutic solutions.

India continues to witness a sharp rise in obesity and metabolic disorders, with obesity increasingly associated with multiple long-term co-morbidities, including Type 2 Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Fatty Liver Disease, PCOS, Osteoarthritis, and cardiovascular complications. Industry estimates suggest that the metabolic and obesity-care market in India is poised for significant growth, with the GLP-1 and obesity management segment projected to exceed ₹15,000 crore in market opportunity over the coming years.

Recognizing the scale of this evolving therapeutic space, Ajanta Pharma is strengthening its strategic focus on metabolic care through scientific engagement, innovative therapies, and patient-centric treatment solutions.

As part of this strategic initiative, DTF has introduced Ozanta (Semaglutide Injection), a GLP-1 therapy indicated for the management of Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity.

  • Ozanta is designed to support

    Improved glycaemic control

  • Meaningful weight reduction

  • Broader metabolic risk management across obesity-associated co-morbid conditions including CKD, Fatty Liver Disease, PCOS, and Osteoarthritis.

  • Ozanta is available in five different SKUs — Ozanta 0.25/0.5 mg, 1 mg, 2 mg, 1.7 mg, and 2.4 mg — enabling physicians to support both diabetes and obesity management across different stages of therapy and titration requirements. The therapy has been introduced with a focus on improving accessibility, with daily therapy cost for diabetes management starting at approximately ₹487 per day.

A key differentiator for Ozanta is its advanced pen-device delivery system, developed on the lines of the innovator platform to deliver the right dose through the right device while enhancing the patient treatment experience.

The pen-device has been designed to offer:

  • Improved dosing precision

  • Ease of administration

  • Greater convenience

  • Enhanced patient confidence

This delivery platform is expected to potentially support better long-term adherence outcomes.

Speaking on the launch, Rajesh Agarwal, Joint Managing Director, Ajanta Pharma, said:

“The launch of DTF reflects Ajanta Pharma’s long-term commitment towards strengthening our presence in chronic and specialty therapies. Diabetes and obesity are emerging as major public health challenges in India, requiring focused scientific engagement and patient-centric innovation. With DTF and Ozanta, we aim to contribute meaningfully towards improving metabolic health outcomes in India while participating in one of the fastest-growing therapy segments in the country.”

Pourus Vakil, President and India Business Head, added:

“The metabolic care landscape in India is evolving rapidly, and there is a growing need for integrated therapeutic approaches that address both glycaemic control and associated metabolic risks. DTF has been conceptualized to create a focused scientific platform dedicated to diabetology and obesity management. Ozanta represents an important step in this direction as we strengthen our capabilities in a market with immense long-term growth potential.”

Musarif Pasha, Vice President and Cluster Head of Diabetology, said:

“Semaglutide has emerged as one of the most significant advancements in metabolic therapy in recent years. With Ozanta, our focus is not only on bringing access to advanced therapy, but also on delivering a differentiated patient experience through a device platform designed for simplicity, precision, and adherence support.”

Supported by a scientifically trained field force, physician engagement initiatives, patient-support focused care models, and a specialty-driven approach, DTF is expected to play an important role in shaping the future of metabolic care in India.

Through improved access to advanced therapies, enhanced treatment experience, and long-term adherence support, the division aims to positively impact patient outcomes while further strengthening Ajanta Pharma’s leadership in chronic therapies.
